Poker is a game of decisions. Often times those decisions are tough ones. We’ve all seen hands play out on TV where one player is left with a decision and takes several minutes to act. Sometimes however the decisions are easy ones.
When Chad Brown lost his fight with cancer on July 2 we made a decision that was easy. As of this year, we’re going to award the winner of the BLUFF Player of the Year race the Chad Brown Trophy. In 2006, he won the BLUFF POY. His performance that year was impressive but it was nothing compared to the heart he showed while battling cancer.
Brown started fighting the disease in 2011 but that didn’t stop him from being at the tables. He won an event at the Wynn Classic just months after having his first surgery. Right up until the end, Brown displayed the courage that any champion should have. As players trot the globe, chasing POY points and big scores we hope they’ll have Brown’s grace and spirit in mind.
