2013 BLUFF Reader’s Choice Nominees: Favorite High Roller Tournament Player

The poker landscape has seen a litany of changes in 2012, and as the year winds toward a close it’s once again time for the BLUFF Reader’s Choice Awards. Your votes will decide the winners in 14 unique categories covering all of the players, personalities, locations and content the poker world has to offer.

High Roller tournaments have become one of the staples for the biggest tours and events worldwide, with astronomical buy-ins taking place everywhere from Macau and Australia to the World Series of Poker itself. Some players specialize in these types of tournaments, while others simply include them among a heavy tournament schedule. For the first time this year, BLUFF would like to recognize the top player in this format.

The first nominee is Antonio Esfandiari, and for obvious reasons. He won the $1 million Big One for One Drop at the 2012 WSOP and the largest prize in poker history, worth over $18 million. Then there’s Phil Ivey, who enjoys the highest stakes available in the world for both tournaments and cash games. John Juanda had a strong year in this style of tournament, taking second in the €50,000 Super High Roller at WSOP Europe and fifth in the Macau Super High Roller for over $1.6 million. Erik Seidel has always been a force in these buy-ins, dating back to his unreal run in 2011. And Sam Trickett is very much in the same boat as Ivey, playing the nosebleed games in Macau in addition to some of the crazy buy-in tournaments, which include a second place finish to Esfandiari in the One Drop.

Here are your choices for Favorite High Roller Tournament Player:

  • Antonio Esfandiari
  • Phil Ivey
  • John Juanda
  • Erik Seidel
  • Sam Trickett
Voting for the 2013 BLUFF Reader’s Choice Awards opens on November 28 at BLUFF.com.
