Anthony Zinno added his name to the World Poker Tour’s history books in a number of ways Thursday night at the LA Poker Classic. He was the third player in the tour’s history to win back-to-back, and the second to do it in Season XIII alone. He also joined another level of the stratosphere, joining Carlos Mortensen and Gus Hansen as the only players with three career WPT titles.
In honor of that achievement, BLUFF’s bringing back By the Numbers for a special edition all about Zinno’s landmark victory.
It took Gus Hansen one year, seven months and 24 days to rack up three wins on the World Poker Tour, setting the all-time record more than 11 years ago.
The new record, which belongs to Anthony Zinno. He won his first title at Borgata in September 2013, and one year, five months and 13 days later he hoisted the WPT Champions Cup for the third time.
Length of time between Zinno’s back-to-back victories, also a new record. Darren Elias previously accomplished it in 49 days with wins at the Borgata Poker Open and WPT Caribbean, while Marvin Rettenmaier was the first to do so (at the bookends of two different seasons) in 75 days.
