The partypoker New Jersey Championship of Online Poker culminated this past weekend with the biggest Sunday Major schedule in New Jersey online poker history, a record broken on back-to-back weekends, as over $350,000 of the $1,000,000 guaranteed series prizepool was up for grabs.
The NJCOP series offered 35 guaranteed events with something for everyone, freezeouts, rebuys, six-max, bounty events, heads-up events, various other styles of No Limit Hold’em and even a few mixed game events that included Pot Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud and Limit Hold’em.
While a majority of the bigger events did not meet or exceed their lofty guarantees, the tournaments and prizepools offered by partypoker showed that they’re not afraid to push the boundaries during these big series’.
It clearly worked, as this was not only the biggest series in terms of prizepools in the history of New Jersey online poker, but also the biggest in terms of overall numbers, as just under 6,500 players came out for this second edition of the NJCOP.
Most of the champions that were crowned, each of whom took down their own piece of history in New Jersey’s biggest online poker series, have already been highlighted through Sunday Major updates or in last week’s NJCOP first week recap, there were a few players that stood out from the crowd during the NJCOP series.
The two players on the top of the NJCOP money list can barely be separated but while “MattLoFan89” may have stolen the headlines, winning the $150,000 Guaranteed NJCOP Main Event for just over $25,000, the biggest winner from this series was actually “deerpathdave“.
The online regular notched huge scores in the two biggest NJCOP events, winning the $100,000 Guaranteed event during the first week of the series before final tabling the Main Event, putting his total NJCOP haul just north of the $27,000 mark.
Those two huge results not only padded “deerpathdave”‘s bankroll but also shot him up the New Jersey Online Player of the Year rankings, as he suddenly finds himself in the top five, sandwiched between OPOY Contenders Jason “JayRiv” Rivkin and Asher “AnthonyMason” Conniff.
While the two players atop the money list went for quality, “OWNEDLOLUMAD“, who also plays under the handle “LuckySpewy”, went for quantity, cashing in ten NJCOP events, final tabling three of them en route to taking home just over $20,000 through the entire series.
The red hot “stevenmadara” continued his streak as he also went for quantity, notching six NJCOP scores with three final table appearances, including an outright win in a $25,000 Guaranteed event.
But, for all the NJCOP champions and cashes, there was really only one headline to follow in the New Jersey online poker world during the last two weeks, as Asher Conniff won online qualifiers into both the Borgata Spring Poker Open $1,000,000 guaranteed opening event and the WPT World Championship, winning them both as he turned a combined $1,700 satellite investment into well over $1,200,000 in live tournament winnings.
BLUFF.com’s regularly scheduled mid-week Online Player of the Year updates and coverage will resume next week.
