Easter Sunday Creates First Widespread Overlays of 2015

WSOP.com offered two massive guaranteed Sunday events in Nevada for the first time this year, showing the strength of that market

Easter Sunday created some sizable overlays on the New Jersey sites but it didn’t stop some of the bigger names from making deep runs and big scores.

The last few weekends of online Sunday Major action have been dominated by continued growth, as very few events have failed to hit their guarantees and have produced some of the biggest prize pools that the New Jersey and Nevada markets have ever seen.

But, that was not the case this weekend, as three of five New Jersey Sunday Majors failed to hit their mark on Easter Sunday creating the first widespread overlays of 2015.

Those overlays didn’t deter some of the bigger names in online poker from making deep runs though, as Michael Gagliano continued his Sunday Major streak while “juice” picked up where he left off earlier this year, regaining his weekend form, making two final tables.

New Jersey

In a weekend dominated with overlays, “sansara52” was the only five figure winner as he outlasted a tough final table to best “brownmagic” heads up for his first Sunday Major title and a $10,000 score, which was the biggest of his online poker career.

While “hyerolla” stole the headlines by notching his first Sunday Major score, this event’s biggest storyline was the continued run good of Michael Gagliano who finished as a Sunday Major runner up for the second week in a row.

Also making a deep final table run was one of the year’s biggest winners, as “Hyperion” notched a 9th place finish to add another chapter to his 2015 Sunday Major success.

This weekend also saw the return of “juice”, who made Sunday Major final tables in three straight weekends to open up 2015 and he looks to have regained that form heading into this month’s New Jersey Championship of Online Poker.
