Just over six years ago an up and coming young Jonathan Jaffe made the final table of the World Poker Tour’s Foxwoods Poker Finals. Jaffe finished second at that final table but probably didn’t expect to have to wait so long for another shot at a WPT title.
Jaffe sits atop the leaderboard at WPT Montreal with just 18 players between himself and a WPT title. No matter where he finishes, this is only Jaffe’s second WPT cash.
Reigning WPT Player of the Year Mukul Pahuja, who finished second in this event last year sits sixth with 1,821,000. Maduka Meragal, who started the day with the chip lead, rounds out the top five with 1,821,000.
Some of the players who will be returning to play with less than the 1,220,000 average stack include Phillip Hui (691,000), Maurice Hawkins (614,000) and Kevin MacPhee (554,000). Hui, who won his first WSOP bracelet this past summer, will have a cheering section when play gets underway on Tuesday, his girlfriend and fellow WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood.
