Los Angeles Youth Network to Hold Charity Poker Tournament

The Los Angeles Youth Network, a charitable organization focusing on the needs of Los Angeles’ homeless youth, has announced that they will hold a star-studded poker tournament and party to benefit LA’s homeless children on Saturday, September 9th, 2006 at the Crystal Casino located in Greater Los Angeles.

Established in 1986, The Los Angeles Youth Network is a non-profit organization that was created to help abused, neglected and homeless adolescents become self-sufficient. The organization provides street outreach, food, emergency shelter and transitional living programs with a professional, caring staff in a nurturing and safe environment.

The proceeds from the celebrity poker tournament, party and silent auction will be used to help build an independent living facility to house 16-20 youth 18-24 years of age, provide an educational program for 200 youth 12-20 years of age and to expand its prevention program to provide services across Los Angeles County including Santa Monica, Downtown LA, Pasadena and Hollywood.

“We are very excited about this event,” said Liz Gomez, LAYN’s Executive Director. “It is great to see some many wonderful people and companies come together for such a great cause. It is going to be an event to remember!”

Aside from the celebrity poker tournament, the entertainment will include performances from some of the hottest LA area bands including Optimus, Landon, Alana Stone and Pistol Stars; a performance by Artists of Focus Fish, featuring acrobats, dancers, and circus acts; music by DJ Poet (Black Eyed Peas) amongst other entertainment. Celebrities confirmed to attend the event include Brooke Burke, Mira Sorvino, Christopher Knight, Adrienne Curry, Blu Cantrell, Eric Benet, Lacey Chabert and Kathy Najimi, among numerous others.
