Two millionaires will be crowned in the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event, and with the three starting sessions in the books there’s a clearer picture of just who that might be.
Day 1C was, as expected, was the largest of all three sessions as 722 entries came in by the close of Level 10 – but it wasn’t the turnout needed to approach the $10 Million guarantee on the prizepool. With a grand total of 1,499 entries, the mark was missed by over $2 million – providing tremendous value to the 478 who advanced to Day 2.
Oleg Titov had the best Day 1C of all, building a stack of 343,500 by the close of Saturday’s action. David Williams was second-best on 1C with 276,600, and both he and Titov enjoyed respective bonuses of $5,000 and $2,500 as the top two stacks of the day. Shawn Cunix (270,100) was third Saturday, and all three players will begin Day 2 among the top 10 stacks overall. Jared Jaffee’s tremendous run on Day 1A gives him the overall chiplead among all of the combined fields.
A total of 300 players will cash, with the money bubble certain to be broken on Day 2. A min-cash is worth $7,483, with the top 50 players guaranteed just shy of $50,000. Narrowly missing out on a final table appearance will earn those finishing 10th through 12th $99,775, with the top four stacks each earning over a half-million dollars.
Getting heads-up for the 2014 SHRPO Main Event title will guarantee each of the final two players $1,047,638, and a first place prize of $1,446,710 awaits the champion.
All 10 levels will be one hour long on Day 2, increasing to 90 minutes for the final three days of the tournament. Play resumes at 12 pm EST Sunday.
