“smaulerg” Continues Sunday Major Assault in partypoker $100K

partypoker rolled out another $100,000 GTD Sunday Major and while it didn't hit it's guarantee, this seemingly monthly event eclipsed the 500 player mark for the first time in three tries.

partypoker rolled out another $100,000 guaranteed Sunday Major and the guarantee was beat for the first time this year, as “smaulerg” continued his Sunday Major assault with a runner up finish. .

While the majority of the Sunday Major headlines in New Jersey and Nevada were rightfully stolen by the players that claimed victory in the weekend’s biggest online tournaments, some of the bigger names in online poker made deep runs and notched massive scores, including many players in the most recent BLUFF.com 2015 Online Player of the Year update.

But, for all the individual results and headlines, this weekend was all about another partypoker/BorgataPoker.com $100,000 guaranteed Sunday Major, which eclipsed it’s lofty guarantee for the first time this year. The bigger-than-usual Sunday Major is run once a month, upping the ante from the usual $50,000 guaranteed event and more often than not boasts a substantial overlay.

Not this weekend though, showing the strength of the online market in both regulated markets, after last weekend saw the introduction of a second large guaranteed Sunday Major event in Nevada, as both states continue to grow and expand their tournament offerings.

New Jersey

*Deal made three-handed.

The weekly Sunday Major recaps are beginning to just become a “smaulerg” highlight reel, as the newest edition to the BLUFF.com OPOY Rankings top three has made massive scores in back-to-back weeks after claiming his second major victory of 2015, winning the WSOP.com $35,000 guaranteed event last week.

He’d add another five figure score to his impressive online resume, but the headlines were stollen by “shekel99” who despite having an equally impressive online portfolio of results had never cashed for more than $3,000. That all changed this weekend as he was the biggest winner, claiming his first Sunday Major title and a $14,000 score after a three-handed deal was made.

partypoker Sunday $10,000 Guaranteed

Buy-In: $100
Players: 177
Prizepool: $16,107

  1. schaf4206 – $3,141
  2. FlopMonster – $2,207
  3. MikeyCasino – $1,627
  4. MickVictory – $1,353
  5. showmethecookie – $1,144
  6. Hyperion – $983
  7. vasio – $821
  8. HOLLANDER55 – $660
  9. sizzilbetta – $499

Another player to make the biggest tournament score of their career was “schaf4206″, who was also claiming his second Sunday Major title, after winning this exact event mid-way through February.

That victory saw “schaf4206” make a heads up deal, but there would be no such deal made this time around, with former partypoker/BorgataPoker.com $100,000 guaranteed Sunday Major champions “MikeyCasino” and “Hyperion” going out 3rd and 6th, respectfully, making this one of the weekend’s toughest final tables.

WSOP Sunday $35,000 Guaranteed

Buy-In: $200
Players: 231
Prizepool: $42,735

  1. Wawa711 – $11,325
  2. Broder23 – $6,624
  3. NYR9414 – $3,782
  4. Str8FlushGuy – $2,906
  5. vigano – $2,479
  6. TWABMM – $2,051
  7. liquidTLO – $1,538
  8. fatboyphat – $1,026
  9. CaptainJax – $726

Coming into this weekend, “Wawa711” had two online tournament cashes to his name, totaling just over $2,300 as he finished as a runner up in a $10,000 guaranteed nightly event early this week. He’d parlay that $30 buy-in into a four figure score and then turn that into a massive $11,000 result as he walked away as the weekend’s second biggest casher.

But, it was another extremely stacked final table as “NYR9414” continues his run good after vaulting himself into last week’s BLUFF.com OPOY top ten.

WSOP.com Sunday $10,000 Guaranteed

Buy-In: $100
Players: 165
Prizepool: $15,015

  1. steveg12345 – $4,054
  2. itWasThatOr0 – $2,365
  3. HelloMcFly – $1,351
  4. Selurznug – $1,051
  5. THAKID33 – $901
  6. dawonderboy7 – $751
  7. AA545454 – $571
  8. needtoeat24 – $360
  9. Jermz – $255

It was almost deja vu as the last time the Sunday Major schedule was dominated by “unknown” players winning titles, Michael Gagliano, “itWasThatOr0” or maybe better known by his twitter handle @Gags30poker, was claiming victory to kill that trend.

He’d come close, eventually finishing in 2nd behind “steveg12345“, who would almost match his career earnings coming into this event as he claimed his first Sunday Major win. Gags would follow this final table appearance up with another deep run in the 888.com Big Sunday, playing under the handle “KorbenDallas”.

888.com $10,000 Big Sunday

Buy-In: $200
Players: 57
Prizepool: $10,545

  1. HelloMcFly – $3,164
  2. EasyGrinder – $1,845
  3. DeadWrong – $1,286
  4. Blck_Jck – $1,076
  5. KorbenDallas – $854
  6. CharlesSmith – $749
  7. waZzZzZzZup – $643
  8. FairyMary – $538

After notching a podium finish in the WSOP.com $10,000 guaranteed Sunday Major final table, finishing third to “steveg12345″ and Michael Gagliano, “HelloMcFly” would get his revenge, winning 888.com’s Big Sunday for the second biggest cash of his career, as he won a $10,000 guaranteed event earlier this year for $4,300.

This is also the second straight week that 888.com’s Sunday Major has eclipsed it’s guarantee, after missing that mark by a few thousand dollars last month.

WSOP.com Sunday $15,000 Guaranteed

Buy-In: $200
Players: 107
Prizepool: $19,795

  1. GraniteChief – $5,543

  3. HereWeGoAgan – $1,841
  4. twonexcelz – $1,445
  5. imr2dr – $1,247
  6. Rainey – $1,049
  7. drannek – $831
  8. Impervious – $554
  9. whiteyslacks – $416

One career tournament cash, one Sunday Major victory as “GraniteChief” made it look easy, picking up a $5,500 score in his first ever online tournament, besting a strong Nevada final table that included “whiteyslacks” who just moved into the BLUFF.com OPOY Rankings top ten last week.

The new Nevada Sunday Major, a $10,000 guaranteed event with a $100 buy-in was won by “Guypie” and bested it’s guarantee for the second straight week.

Later this week, BLUFF.com will be bringing you another player feature as we profile contenders for both the New Jersey and Nevada 2015 Player of the Year titles.
