The Tiger Woods Foundation is hosting the second annual “Tiger Jam”, a two-day charity event to benefit underprivileged youths that includes Woods joining a star-studded group of professional poker players to host a charity poker event co-sponsored by the World Poker Tour.
The tournament will take place on Friday, May 17th, kicking off two days of events that will benefit Woods’ foundation, which give underprivileged youths access to a college education. The second annual charity poker tournament will take place at the Mandalay Bay, and the WPT will film the action to use in a future broadcast. The event will be emceed by Phil Hellmuth and hosted by Woods himself.
The two day affair will include a golf outing along with the high stakes poker tournament, providing gourmet meals and allowing those who participate a chance to rub elbows with celebrities and some of Las Vegas’ biggest VIPs. There will be a party Friday night at the Moorea Beach Club at Mandalay Bay, followed by a Kid Rock concert on Saturday the 18th.
The night before the World Poker Tour’s signature event – the $25,000 WPT World Championship – the charity tournament will take place, with Woods himself taking to the felt. Also confirmed to be in attendance are Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and WPT host and television personality Mike Sexton.
Prizes in the event include a round of golf with Woods and two of the winner’s friends, an opportunity to play for a spot in a PGA sanctioned Pro-Am event and other invaluable prizes.
Brunson won the event last year but auctioned off the prize for $75,000, donating all of the money to Woods’ charity. Brunson also won a putting lesson from Woods but said, “I didn’t take it, but offered him one for free.”
