Tournament Tracker: Jonathan Jaffe Wins at Foxwoods, McEachern Final Tables

This week, Tournament Tracker looks at poker tournament results highlights a win by one of the major players at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event, as well as a deep run by one of the ESPN commentators.

The first stop this week is Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut for their annual World Poker Finals. Their main event is next week, but this past weekend was their biggest preliminary event, a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament. Jonathan Jaffe returned to where he had his best result, a runner-up finish in the 2008 World Poker Finals Main Event, finishing one spot higher, earning over $54,000.

Next up is the Asia Championship of Poker in Macau, this week featuring their ACOP Warm-Up, drawing a field of over 300 entries putting up 25,000 HKD ($2,965 US). Jian Yang picked up the biggest payday of the past week – $219,355. Kicking off Monday is the ACOP Main Event with a 20,000,000 HKD ($2,600,000 US) guaranteed prize pool.

Off to Europe for the WPT National Main Event in Campione, Italy. Francesco del Foco picked up the lion’s share of the winnings, over $123,000. Before the World Poker Tour Main Event in Paris, 21 entries in the 15,000€ ($20,680 US) High Roller, with the EPT Monte Carlo Super High Roller winner Max Altergott adding another trophy to his collection.

Finally, the WSOP Circuit in Lake Tahoe kicked off this weekend with Lon McEachern, lead commentator for ESPN’s coverage of the WSOP for over a decade, finished 4th in Event 3, a $365 no limit hold’em re-entry event. The fourth place finish was good for $11,598, his first recorded tournament cash. Less notably, Ivin Arquiza earned the ring, cashing in for over $34,000.
