WCOOP: Dan Kelly Wins Record-Setting Third Title

Kelly can now claim he is the top performing WCOOP-er ever

He may only be 22 years-old, but Dan “djk123” Kelly has already accomplished a lot in his poker career.  Now he can add a WCOOP record to the list after winning a record-tying third title.

Kelly added another 8-Game title to his reume after winning the $109 Turbo Eight-Game event. Defeating a field of over 1,400 runners earned him over $23,000 and, more importantly his third WCOOP bracelet. The win also helped Kelly jump up the Player of the Series leaderboard, but the man still in control of the race is Joel Adam “2FLY2TILT” Gordon. He made his fourth final table of the series this week, finishing fourth in the $320 Six-Handed Pot Limit Omaha Cubed event.  He now shares the record with Ryan D’Angelo and Anders Berg for the most WCOOP itles in history.

That fourth final table puts Gordon out front in the race with 270 points, but Kevin “ImALucksac” MacPhee is still within striking distance with 230 points. Big_Nemo is still in the running with 215 points and Steve “gboro780” Gross rounds out the top four with 210 points.

Gross already final tabled one WCOOP event this year and ended up at his second. This time around, Gross would emerge victorious in the $320 HORSE event. Though he is best known as a No Limit Hold’em specialist, Gross bested a tough final table line-up in the mixed game, including Kyle “KJulius10” Julius and Alexander “joiso” Kostritsyn.

The $10,300 High Roller Heads-Up event drew a to-capacity field of 32 runners and Daniel Negreanu posted another run for Team PokerStars, finishing fourth. The PokerStars crew had a lot of solid results the past few days, including another final table for recent WCOOP title winner Noah “Exclusive” Boeken and a fourth place finish for Team Online Pro Adrienne “talonchick” Rowsome. Longtime online poker pro and Team Online member Shane “shaniac” Schleger picked up the third bracelet of the series for PokerStars, taking down the $320 2-7 Triple Draw event for over $21,000.

The biggest winners of the past few days included Heads-Up High Roller champ piston87, who pocketed $119,000 for his victory. Iwonthurtyou also picked up a nice six-figure score in the $215 No Limit Hold’em with Rebuys event that drew over 1,200 players and generated a prize pool of almost $750,000.
