Weekend of Firsts in Online Sunday Major Action

888.com’s $15,000 Big Sunday event did not run this weekend after missing their guarantee by a few thousand dollars last weekend.

It was a weekend of firsts on the regulated sites of New Jersey and Nevada as Sunday Majors in both state’s were won by players earning their first major victories and their first four-figure or bigger scores.

But, while that trend shows a positive growth in the online game, the other “first” shows the negative side of it, as 888.com’s $15,000 Big Sunday event did not run for the first time since the site began combining their player pools with WSOP.com earlier this year.

It remains to be seen if this is only a one week hiatus for the lone 888.com Sunday Major, or if this is a sign of things to come from the site, as last weekend’s Big Sunday event missed the guarantee by a few thousand dollars.

nigock” claimed his first Sunday Major title and because of the three handed deal in the partypoker $50,000 GTD event, he’d be the only player to make a five figure score, earning just over $10,600, making him this weekend’s biggest winner.

While partypoker’s biggest online Sunday Major event has been dominated by “unknowns”, WSOP.com has had a familiar face make deep runs over the last few weeks, but while “juice”‘s final table run is over, Kevin “SofcknsicKKK” Campbell might be starting one of his own as he’d follow up a 7th place finish in this major event with a $2,500 GTD NJ High Roller win and another WSOP.com final table, putting his total Sunday Major haul at close to $5,000 and potentially doing enough to move into the NJ OPOY top ten.

888.com $15,000 Big Sunday

The lone 888.com Sunday Major did not run this week after missing their increased guaranteed prizepool by a few thousand dollars last weekend.

While 888.com’s Sunday Major in New Jersey has failed to hit it’s guarantee and run in back-to-back weeks, the WSOP.com Nevada $15,000 GTD Sunday Major has not had that problem. The lone Nevada major has consistently bested their guarantee, seeing it balloon close to the $25,000 mark for the first time since early January.

Staying true to this week’s trend, it was another first timer claiming a Sunday Major title, as “mikedell” won his first ever online tournament, claiming $6,700 for the victory.

Later this week, BLUFF.com will be bringing you another player feature as we profile contenders for both the New Jersey and Nevada 2015 Player of the Year titles.
