World Poker Tour Announces Season XI Schedule for 2013

The World Poker Tour revealed its schedule for the second half of Season XI, with stops spanning the globe as the play towards the season-ending WPT Championship in Las Vegas.

There are nine official events scheduled for 2013, kicking off with a stop in Atlantic City for the Borgata Winter Poker Open at the end of January. A week later the tour will head down to Florida for the Lucky Hearts Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida, followed by a trip across the Atlantic for WPT Vienna. As that tournament is wrapping up, the only $10,000 event on the schedule will begin at the LA Poker Classic, which is also the first televised event to take place in 2013.

From there the action will move down the California coast to San Jose for the Bay 101 Shooting Star, a unique event on the tour since Season 2 as it’s the only one to offer a format with bounties. The next stop is the final non-televised event as they travel to Barcelona for a €3,500 event, followed by a return to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida for a televised $5,000 Main Event.

That brings the tour to its final destination of Season XI at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for its two biggest tournaments of the year. The $25,000 WPT Championship starts on May 18th, while the $100,000 Super High Roller puts cards into the air on the 21st. The WPT Player of the Year race came down to the last stop in Season X, and the WPT Championship is among the most prestigious tournaments of the year.

“By working with a combination of existing and new partners throughout Season XI, WPT is constantly seeking to provide players around the world with access to high-quality tournaments and one-of-a-kind poker experiences that no one else can offer,” said WPT CEO, Steve Heller. “After first-ever stops in Johannesburg, South Africa and Sanya, China in 2012 – along with repeat visits to popular venues such as Aviation Club de France in Paris and Bellagio in Las Vegas –it’s obvious that World Poker Tour remains the best choice for players who want to maximize the value of their tournament buy-in while also being able to compete against world-class competition on one of the biggest stages in the game today.”

There are also eight WPT National events on the schedule for 2013, spanning six different countries throughout Europe. Three of the tournaments will take place in France, at the Aviation Club in Paris, Le Croisette Casino in Cannes and the Imperial Casino in d’Annecy, France.
