Officially named the partypoker presents: WPT500 at Aria, the tournament is set to offer a $2 million guaranteed prizepool at the same buy-in level as the inaugural event- and this time there are a variety of points during the summer that players can choose to take their shot at making Day 2, which takes place on July 5, and the final table the following day.
Days 1A, 1B, 1C kick things off on Sunday, May 31, Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2 at 12 pm. Three additional starting flights take place the following weekend on Saturday, June 6, Sunday, June 7 and Monday, June 8. The last three standard sessions play out in the three days leading up to Day 2, from July 2-4, and an 8 am turbo Day 1J on July 5 offers one final shot at bagging up chips.
“After experiencing great success last summer, we are proud to announce our return to Las Vegas for the partypoker presents: WPT500 at ARIA in Las Vegas,” said WPT President Adam Pliska. “In order to create more value for the thousands of players who will flock to Sin City in the coming months, we have doubled the previous guarantee and scheduled more starting flights across three different weekends. In addition, we will be awarding at least one package a day in May on ClubWPT.com, creating more than 40 opportunities for players to win a Las Vegas experience and compete in this massive event.”
Sean Yu won the 2014 WPT500 event, taking home $260,000 from an initial investment of just $565. It was not an easy path to victory either, as pros Scott Clements and Christian Harder were among Yu’s final table adversaries.
In addition to $65 single table and $125 multi table super satellites held at the Aria, there will be numerous opportunities for players to qualify online around the world. In addition to more than 40 packages offered on ClubWPT.com, satellites will be offered on partypoker both internationally and in New Jersey, as well as on bwin.be (Belgium) and bwin.fr (France), pmu.fr (France) and danskespil.dk (Denmark).
“Hundreds of online qualifiers from around the world are expected to travel to Las Vegas and participate in partypoker presents: WPT500 at ARIA, including players in New Jersey, the largest regulated market in the United States,” said Jeffrey Haas, Director of US for bwin.party. “These players will have an opportunity to turn a very small buy-in into a massive six-figure prize, while also enjoying the many first-class amenities that ARIA has to offer.”
Live players at the Aria can also win their way in by winning any daily tournament starting May 1, with a seat to the WPT500 added to each prizepool.
“While we host daily and monthly tournaments throughout the year, WPT500 generates an incredible buzz in our poker room. We look forward to adding an additional 20 poker tables for the July 4th weekend, allowing more players to sit down as soon as they register and play. This will be another sensational event for the ARIA Poker Room and resort overall.”
Players will be allowed one re-entry per flight, and those who aren’t satisfied with a stack they bag during one of the earlier flights can come back and try again, with their best stack moving forward.
