George Danzer has had a phenomenal summer at the 2014 World Series of Poker, thus far. Danzer, who banked $294,792 by winning the $10,000 Razz Championship last Monday, earned enough WSOP Player of the Year points to sit atop the standings after cashing in several events. He picked up cashes in the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo and the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Six Max Championship. Danzer earned 75.6 points for his ninth place finish in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Six Max Championship, which ultimately pushed him to the top of the standings.
Justin Bonomo was leading the WSOP Player of the Year race after his bracelet victory in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Six Max, but has since fallen behind Danzer after failing to earn a significant amount of points in the past week. Although he picked up 14.6 points when he placed 15th in the $10,000 HORSE on Wednesday, Bonomo is currently still sitting in second with 413.63 points.
Vanessa Selbst has had a similar story. She was leading the WSOP Player of the Year race at the beginning of the series from her victory in the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Mixed Max, but since falling to ninth place in the standings after only attaining a small cash in the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo.
Brock Parker is sitting in third place with 393.50 points. Parker boasts some impressive results this summer. Having already won a bracelet in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship, cashing in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em, and making a final table at the $1,500 Razz, he recently finished 14th in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Six Max on Sunday, netting him another 31.50 points.
Brandon Shack-Harris, who finished runner-up to Danzer in the $10,000 Razz Championship, won a bracelet in the $1,000 Pot Limit Omaha earlier in the series for $205,634. He was sitting second in the race, but has since fallen to fourth place in the WSOP Player of the Year standings with 389 points.
Richard Ashby has been having a great summer at the 2014 World Series of Poker as well. The British pro was runner-up in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo to Brock Parker for $274,019, and placed fourth in the $10,000 HORSE for $150,625. He has climbed to fifth place with 342.45 points.
Newcomers to the leaderboard include Christopher (Fox) Wallace, who scored a bracelet in the $10,000 HORSE Championship which lands him in eighth place in the race. Pierre Milan moved into tenth place on the leaderboard after taking home $536,768 his victory in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em.
